Hi all,
After many weeks of deciding what would work best for my size , I've decided to start a Jawa for my first build.
So far I have my bandolier and my monk cloth ordered. More updates to come!

Good luck! I just finished my Jawa recently. Let me know if I can help with anything!

Did you use monk cloth? I'm having a hard time determining how much is needed and if I should buy pre-dyed or just dye it to match some in our Garrison .

I got natural monks cloth from Joann fabric and dyed it with Rit dye. It took 4-5 times of dying it before I got a color I liked. I tried the washing machine method first, but had to do the bucket method to let it soak long enough to get a good color. I think if I had started with the bucket method, it would have been much smoother.

I'm 5'0" and about 200lbs. I needed 4.5 yards of fabric to make the robe, hood, and boots. I had to sew in sleeves, so if I had been thinner it would not have taken so much fabric because I wouldn't have needed to cut out extra sleeve pieces.
I hope that helps!

Helps a lot! I'm only 5'2 and I didn't want to buy 10 yards like those on the board.

That's a good costume to start out with. Not as expensive or as difficult as some of the others. Plus it's always good to have them and Tuskens around at events! :jawa: :jawa: :jawa: Utini!

I find your lack of faith disturbing

Duct Tape...the Force it is like. Both a light side and a dark side it has. Binds the universe together it does!

Congrats on your decision and best of luck with your build! Great to see another Jawa in the works. I think Jawas are a lot like TK's, you can never have too many of them. They look great, help set the mood and are very versatile and fun to have around. Good choice!

I bought 10 yards I believe when I was starting my wife's build, I made sure to get extra since it shrinks when you wash it and I knew I'd need extra for when I messed up

I recommend at least two nice hot washes before you dye the monk cloth, it shrinks quite a bit in my experience.

I have extra stuff for the hood ring and face masks so if you need some hit me up

Hmm maybe I should go order a few more yards. I'm horrid at sewing , so mess ups are bound to happen. For the dye did you use the cocoa /orange combo? I'm trying to match those in our Garrison.

Yup, I did the 2:1 ratio, the wife wouldn't let me use the washer so I just did it in a giant garbage can, worked out pretty well.
