Hey folks, long time, no see (or speak).

I'm back in Salt Lake City, but I don't know if it's for good or not. I had to get a replacement birth certificate so I can get new ID where-ever I eventually end up, since my driver's license expires this summer.

After spending a year in Colorado with no luck finding work, followed by another year out in Southern California looking all over LA County (again, with no luck finding work), I just spent ten months roaming the streets of Phoenix, Arizona trying to find a job (once again, with no luck at all). I gave up on Phonix nearly two weeks ago, when I started out hiking (and hitching rides any chance I could) to get back up here so I could replace my birth certificate, and right now, I've got no leads on where to stay or even where to look for work.

Does anybody have any idea where there are good chances for finding work, and a place to stay? I'm tired of being stuck in this situation, and I really don't enjoy living on the streets. Right now, I want a good chance for finding any work I can get, so that I can scrape up enough to afford a small, inexpensive apartment. Any info that anybody can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, from your former brother-in-armor.

I'd be happy to help keep an eye out for jobs. What are you interested in? Skillsets?

I have no special skillsets outside of eighteen years' worth of woodworking experience (at a shutter shop, followed by a cabinet shop) and roughly eight months of working as a stocker for Lowe's.

Right now, I'll take any job I can find. I've filled out countless applications at varios places in twelves cities in four states over the past 46 months, with absolutely no interviews at all. I knew that it's hard finding work, but that's just irritating, never getting contacted for any interviews in nearly four years of looking.

As far as inexpensive apartments go, mind you I don't know if there is still one open, there is a place in Roy that last time I check was $500 a month and is a one bedroom. I could get more info if need be.

I know that here in Provo there is a call center that is desperately looking for people. It's a guaranteed job, and while it's nothing fancy, at least you would be guaranteed work until you can find something better. Not only that, but there are lots of cheap apartments in Provo. Let me know if you want the information.

I just checked my email and found a message about possible work here in SLC, so I'll look into it for now. If nothing comes of it, I'll have you PM me the info. Thanks.

Go ahead and PM me the info. That job I looked into requires that payment be made be either direct deposit, or by mailing out a card with the funds on it, similar to an EFT card like you get for food stamp benefits. With no bank accounts, and no mailing address, those two options do not work for me, and the job is only for a week or two. I need steady employment.
