Okay well apparently some people like to actually SEE or hear about what work is going on with people's costumes, so I figured I'd start my own thread so I can give everyone a good laugh before they go to bed at night.

But honestly all young people aspire to be a Shadow Stormtrooper when they grow up.
Image
See what I mean?

So Most have seen my armor, which means I'm not being very good at the stealthy part of my job, as you can see above, I have been caught on camera and more than once. But it was for a good cause, let's hope the Emperor will buy that before he decides to terminate me.

Honestly I wish I had either taken pictures of my armor when it was being built, cause that was a mess, or of eBayBlackHoleTrooper's armor when it was being built, because that was an organized mess. Honestly there's nothing like putting together some armor to learn what you could do better next time. There's also nothing like wearing armor to make you realize what you can change to make it more tolerable.

Since I had a camera today, I thought I'd take a snap of changes I made or am making, and maybe others can learn from my mistakes.

Okay, so at the parade I realized it was hard for me to get off the float because my abdomen didn't have any flex in it, so I have yet to glue the snaps on it but today I separated the cod so I can attempt to have a bit more mobility.
Image
I've got some extra armor coming in that I'll have to trim, so I'm waiting for that extra plastic to use to glue the snaps to the back of the pieces.

Also I found that the ABS plastic belt was digging into my sides so that had to go. eBay's armor didn't come with the black plastic strips anyway, so we had to find something, and we might as well kill 2 birds with one stone. We decided on leather, and after a little dye and some spray to give it a nice sheen, we ended up with this.
Image
Still hooks up like the plastic version, but it's more comfortable. We might look at making it a "cooler" design later, but for now this thing works.

Unfortunately the new belt left me lacking. The old Thermal Detonator had just used velcro to affix onto the back of the belt so it was time to figure out something new.
Image
I decided to make a kind of loop out of the leather and slide my belt through it. The loop is bolted to the Det, and should make it more sturdy than the old way. Only a troop will tell.

If anyone is thinking of going with a Shadow Stormtrooper let me know. I have the requirements written up and it's already been looked over by the detachment for accuracy. I needed it to help eBay get his costume together.

That's it for my TX for now... But first a little teaser as to my next costume I'll be working on.

Iz, that looks like a turkey! Call me, I have some thin ABS you can have.

It is a turkey! Turkey is a key component to my sleeping trooper costume!

My guess at the new costume- either an Imperial Guard or a Senate Guard, although through the bubble wrap it looks suspiciously black. I didn't think there were any Stealth Guards izzi :P

Can anyone is the Garrison make sig bars like the one above for my 501st costumes? If you can, pm me.. :)

Actually... It was an unpainted armor piece in that picture... But I think maybe the force shows you the future...

I know what it is  Good work, Iz. It's fun to see what changes people are making to help make these costumes more manageable. Keep us posted!

And since you ruined the suspense!

I was able to get this done in my garage the day before the snow hit.

Image

I still need to put in the lens and some padding, but that'll probably have to wait until after the holidays. I figure I better go X-mas shopping before I go running around to finish another costume.

Oh yeah.. and this does mean I'm going to confuse you all by having 2 costumes (or maybe more) posted in one thread AND updating them in a very chaotic order!

I thought you had the whole professional paint job on your helmet. Mine is just Rustoleum Professional from a spray can.

Hey! The more the merrier! Come to the true Dark Side of the Force!

A friend saw what I was doing and jumped on board. So we may have two of them soon, and another garrison member! I need to convince him to sign up on the boards and say hi.
