I was just laid off today. There just isn't enough work to go around.
Please contact me if you have any leads on CAD Designer work. I do not have a computer at home, but will try to check my messages at the library daily. Otherwise, I am available on my cell phone.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Awww, Chris. I know you've been dealing with the possibility of this for some time. I was hoping you'd made it through the layoffs. Keep the head up, something good will happen.

Sorry to hear this news, Chris. Man... You know the economy is bad when someone with your skills gets laid off.
I have access to a lot of job lists. I'll add CAD openings to my watch.
Later,
Mike Handy "Handyman"

What skills are included under the title "CAD Designer"? Just wondering so I can be looking for specifics.
PM them to me if you don't want them out in the open.

Naw, I want everyone to know just how awesome I am! LOL
Here is the abbreviated version of my resume (if anyone would like to have the 5 page PDF version to forward to potential employers, please let me know).
Christopher L. Norlem
Mission Statement
I am excited to learn how I can help your company excel and grow in this challenging economy with my exceptional design and technical knowledge and personnel and financial management skills.
Experience
I have over 15 years of experience in municipal, commercial, retail, and residential civil consulting engineering projects, with major strengths in grading and drainage, conceptual layout, master planning, traffic control and transportation.
Nolte Associates, Inc. June 2003-Aug 2009
Planning Manager/Production Supervisor/Senior CAD Designer
I provided civil engineering project management, personnel management, engineering design and drafting for Nolte's Salt Lake City office, one of 15 offices spread throughout the intermountain west, California and Mexico.
Bingham Engineering, Inc. May 1999-June 2003
CAD Manager
I managed CAD systems and personnel and provided civil, traffic and environmental engineering design and drafting.
Lamp, Rynearson Associates, Inc. August 1994-May 1999
CAD Designer
I designed and drafted civil engineering plans, specializing in transportation – airports, highways, etc., residential subdivisions and commercial sites, utilizing AutoTurn vehicle path simulation software in conjunction with AutoCAD.
Composite Structures, Inc. November 1993-August 1994
CAD Designer
I designed, drafted and assisted in construction of composite (fiberglass) structural projects and liquid storage tanks. I also managed computer systems and backups and developed the timekeeping database for payroll.
Major Project Experience
Site Engineering: I am skillful at mass grading – involving tens of millions of cubic yards for a premier planned community in Utah, finish grading – creating usable land out of difficult sites, steep or flat, and precise grading – individual building lot grading. I have worked with landscape architects, land planners and owners to develop sustainable drainage solutions while meeting or exceeding the owner’s desires.
Traffic and Transportation: I have varied experience in traffic and transportation engineering. I have designed neighborhood roadways, state highways, airport facilities and U.S. military entry facilities. I am well versed in the regulations set forth by the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and stay up to date on changes in traffic design standards.
Computer Aided Design: I have worked in AutoCAD, from simple drafting to designing with complex 3D models, for the last 15 years. I have refined efficient methods of modeling grading, drainage, and transportation with CAD software.

BS Business Management of Technical Services – Bellevue University (1996)
3.6 GPA – Studies Included: Project Management, Production Management, Marketing, Managerial Finance & Accounting, Law & Ethics
AS Drafting and Design Engineering Technology - Ricks College (1993)

That was gutsy!
I know I would be a hit with engineers, but in my field they take creativity in very small bites. It is really sad. There have only been very minor incremental changes in civil engineering in the last 2000 years.
I might just be gutsy enough to put it on my resume though. Hmmm.
