Hi everyone! TK-7892 from the Carolina Garrison here.
So last night I opened my LDS mission call and was assigned to the Utah Salt Lake City West Mission, and wanted to see if there would be any 501st guys where I would be serving. My mission covers the area of Magna, Utah. It looks like a pretty small area, and it's the newest mission of the church. It actually will be created on July 1. I report to the MTC on July 18.

And please don't take it as a "Oh, you live in Utah, so you must be Mormon" thing . I'm hoping to see ALL of my 501st brothers and sisters while serving!

PS: I saw lots of pictures of Magna covered in snow, so I might have to purchase a Snow Trooper before I go out.

There are definitely plenty of us out here....I think there are a couple people in Magna, not sure though. Plenty in the Salt Lake Valley.

Awesome! I was kind of worried that there might not be any 501st peeps where I serve, so I'm way excited to hear that! :)

Still plenty of snow in the mountains. Magma is just west of Salt Lake, and about 15 minutes from wherever, so it's not so bad. Salt Lake City is much smaller than most people realize. Also, there are about 80 or so members in the local garrison, and another 40 or so in the garrison just north of us. You won't have any trouble finding fellow geeks.

Also, I'm not Mormon, although I suppose a majority of the garrison is. If you've never been to Salt Lake, you may be surprised, but the city itself is only about 40% Mormon, so you'll have plenty of work. :)

This. I don't know of anyone in Magna (although I could be wrong), but plenty in the Salt Lake and Utah County areas. Also, we have a pretty decent Rebel Legion presence out here. Rogue Base is new, but going strong.

Awesome news! I go to BYU so I'm a bit south of SLC, but one of my roomies is from Magna and he definitely has LOTS of non-member friends! I can't imagine what serving in SLC will be like (I went to New York City myself), but Utah missions are, as a rule, the busiest in the Church. I am way stoked for you dude! Nothing like a cool missionary with Stormtrooper experience! ;)

Still cool! I have lots of family in the area and I've been to SLC a couple of times. Hopefully I'll get to see meet up with some of my friends and family in SLC!

That's awesome and congratulations!! Thanks for posting and letting us know you'll be here. We will defiantly have to hook up several times while you're here. Take you & your various comps out to lunch or something! Show them how the Empire does things in Utah!

By the way, I live in Davis County which is just to the north of Salt Lake City, but as has been said Magna is only about a 10-15 minute drive for me, so don't hesitate to ever call!

Congratulations! We're always glad to have legion members here no matter how they come. We have several members around the Salt Lake area. If you can make it to an event during a P-day we'd love to meet you!

And yes, DO make a snowie. Snowtroopers are awesome. :D

Thanks, all! I'm now officially a member of the Alpine Garrison. I'll definitely make sure to contact a few LDS 501st members in my area to keep up with events and stuff to do on my P-days!

Hopefully you will serve in my stake. We're really excited for the new mission and I'm confident we'll bump into each other. I'm in West Valley in the Hunter Central stake. If you serve there, you will have great success!

So just an update... My uncle who lives near Salt Lake City came home this week and I showed him the map in my mission booklet. He says that the map actually covers from the western part of Magna and all the way east through West Valley and stops at 215 just before Taylorsville! My uncle said that he lives 4 miles away from my area, so he and I are super excited!

So, I'm hoping that I will get to see a lot more of you than I originally thought!
