I have always loved star wars. I have read almost all of the now de-canoned books.
I am an avid costumer when it comes to renting outfits and attending movies and such. Even went as far as dressing up as the ghost of Christmas present and attending A Christmas Carol at Hale Center Theater. It really threw A lot of people off having 2 fully costumed ghosts walking around. Lol.
Any way, I am wanting to take my costuming to the next level. 1stly by joining a costuming group. 2ndly by getting advice on the best route of procuring my own (stunt) Stormtrooper armor kit. I would love any advice on the subject.
I am planning on getting my kit from Anovos. Any thoughts, hit me up.

Hello TYPRIS,

Welcome! First off, I suggest introducing yourself over here.

I'd also suggest starting a WIP (Work In Progress) thread so you can show your progress. I know you have nothing to add to it right now but it's good practice. A good example of one can be found here. It also helps others track how you're doing, and they can offer helpful tips should you need some help. Where possible, you should attend armor parties. You get to know people and they can give you tips face-to-face.

I know it may sound personal but you may want to tell us your body type (height / weight). It will help determine the armor that will best suit you. ANOVOS is popular right now but it may not necessarily be the best way to go. We've also had a few people who've had bad experiences with them.

Hope this helps! :)

Hey Typris,

Welcome, since this will pop up eventually. Here is the place to get started.

http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/

Concerning Anovos, their wait time is I think a year or so. A good kit if you are willing to wait and like Adam said they are having some issues right now.

Anywho, ask all the questions you want. We are eager to help.

Hello, and Welcome!
Best place for you to start is to head over to FISD like the others have said, and start your work in progress, even if you don't have armor knowing what you're working on means people can help you get started! Post up a WIP here and on FISD this way our GML's can track them and help you out!

Can't wait to see your progress!

Here are links that helped me and a few others,

where to buy armor: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/1 ... find-them/
Supply List: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/3 ... -tk-build/
Belts: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/1 ... vas-belts/
Neck Seal & Holster: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/2 ... eck-seals/ (jimbojags wife makes neck seals too)
Boots: tkboots.com or imperialboots.com
Blaster: pm slavefive on the fisd boards, he works at HFX productions (hyperfirm)

Rivets: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/3 ... -for-sale/ (only if your going for higher levels of accuracy, you dont need these if your just going for basic approval)

Build threads:
navajo bro - http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/3 ... unt-build/
ukswrath - http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/3 ... ild/page-1
jason10012 - http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/3 ... ld-thread/

Helmet fans: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/3 ... 9v-or-aas/

As far as anovos goes I would avoid them, we've had a few cadets recently request refunds due to the wait and poor customer service. You can almost be guaranteed it will be at least an 18 month wait to get your armor and if your not movie size, 5'-10" and 150lbs it probably won't fit you.

While your researching and learning how to build please come out to one of the events. You don't need an approved costume and we always need help. Welcome to alpine

Welcome, we would love to meet you in person at our events. You do not need to complete an outfit to start participating. There is some decision making in picking the right outfit and a lot of great advice here and on the legion boards. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
