(How do I get myselves into these messes?)Attention EU costuming buffs. You're help is being requested!I have been roped into a time sensitive project and I have to admit that I don't know diddly squat about Expanded Universe. History: I have a special guest (read: girlfriend) who will be visiting from Florida during late July. She is very much into Star Wars but the area she lives in does not have any activity throught the 501st. She will only be here for a week but plans on trooping with us at the Sunset fun days event. In order to get her in costume she's requested something simple, relatively inexpensive an compact enough to take back on the flight with her. I suggested Imperial officer, deck crew, Padme (ANY), Rebel pilot (shudder), even Royal Guard... Nope. What does she want? VISAS MARR!!!Attachment:

I've never actually played KOTOR2 so I had to do a little research to even put a face to the name (turns out it's only lips). I've seen a few people pull off this costume so I know it can be done. I can work the underdress, sash and gloves with no problme, what I need is some experienced hands on where to find appropriate pleather, and some pointers on where to begin lightsaber construction... In short, HELP! (thank you)

Inexpensive it will not be, nor will it be simple or quick. You have my sympathies, and what little help I might be able to offer. There's at least one person on the Rebel Legion who's done this, I'd check out there.

1. Something simple 2. Relatively inexpensive 3. Compact Visas Marr? Really? If you pull this off she'll owe you big time (see also ).

Many have done it in the 501st too, it is one of those that counts for both groups since she was a Sith apprentice and a Jedi. PM sent with some ideas. Good luck with it.

Check the Flagship Eclipse. Best resource for Visas Marr, hands down. Have fun with the pinwheel pattern, lol.
Wanna bet?

Man you never played KOTOR 1 or 2, man best games ever. I don't know how you are going to pull it off but hopefully you can. I would love to see it. And be in person once mine is done. The only thing I can tell you is go through the 501st and email people that have it. And hopefully you can get a response. I would love to see someone else from the expanded universe other then me. Good luck and I hope you can pull it off.

VISAS MARR!!! I know as the armorer I'm not supposed to do this, but... ROTFLMFAO! Luckily Tara is the soft armorer, so you should probably shoot her off a PM. Checking out Eclipse is the best move too. -iz

Secretly Visas Marr is on my list of costumes to do as well. I'm excited to undertake the challenge of constructing a beautiful overdress and veil. The project is at least a year out for me though. As everyone has suggested check out the Flagship Eclipse. Here is a direct link to all things Visas Marr, including the standards for the KOTOR version. Best of luck and I'm excited to see what you come up with!

Micro update. Progress on the costume is slow and steady. The underdress is neary complete and most of the rest of the materials have been purchased. For now, I want to focus on the accessories - namely the lightsaber! First off, thanks to everyone who volunteered info and assistance. I decided to go this alone because, well, I'm sadistic. *grin* Stopped by my friendly neighborhood Home Depot last weekend and between the plumbing, garden and hardware departments picked up everything I needed to get started. Total cost: a few pence over 16$. Here's what I got: Attachment:

Now to get started. The main piece was a a perfect girth but too long so I removed the end caps and dremmelled out the center leaving both ends and their thread. Drilled two holes for the hex nuts, inserted and then spliced the two halves back together. Glue liberally. Attachment:

While that was drying, I put together the pummel. Two angled rubber washers and an end cap made the piece perfect. Attach PVC reducer and apply pvc glue till it stops screaming. Attachment:

... once that was finished and dried, I constructed the shaft out of the couplings and jammed the pummel up it's..... Attachment:

Now for the fun part. Rip off the nozzel from the sprinkler, fit with the remaining coupling and assemble alll three pieces. Here is the unpainted version: Attachment:

I coated the saber in a heavy primer, followed by an under coating of Black. Second coat was a dull steel grey to give it more of a metallic look followed by a metallic silver for a light shine. Waiting for the final coat to dry and then I'm going to hit it with a clear coat. Will post pics of the completed piece once the paint dries.
