This weeks pointer from the GML Desk: Research, ask questions, and research. Vet out makers and compare everything against the CRL's. CRL's can change. Some makers don't maker armor up to movie quality or up to CRL standards. Remember, nothing is automatically 501st approvable, even preferred makers and/or previously approved costumes from other troopers. It's up to each applicant to make sure their submission is up to Legion/CRL/Movie standards. If you think a CRL is wrong, and have evidence to back that up, reach out to the GML and DL's BEFORE you commit to doing the variations. Some instances, its truly an accurate variation. Other instances, you happened to find a blooper in the making of the movie. It is better to check before committing. Example: If you slow the bluray down in a new hope to when the tusken is running to the bantha. You can clearly see he is NOT wearing the sleeves under his robe, as well, he is wearing bright shorts and no long pants under the robe. As funny as that is. It is NOT approvable.
