I am starting on a new build of Commander Doom from Season 6 Clone Wars. I ordered my kit and received the helmet yesterday and the rest is still somewhere within the postal service's clutches :). I will be posting as I go and welcome any feedback or words of encouragement along the way. Thanks all!

I have been pretty lazy on this build so far. I have most of the armor rough trimmed and need to clean it up and start on assembly. I did get in my boots that I ordered though!!

Ok time to get serious with this if I am going to get it done by FanX...

I got the bucket all trimmed and mostly sanded down. I still need to do a little bondo'ing and touch up sanding but I am pretty close with this part being done. Once I start seeing progress like this it motivates me to keep going!!

I am on to the final fitting sizing and painting phases...

But I am having a serious paint issue. On my ABS armor I did a couple coats of glossy white spray paint/primer in one. As I go to put on another layer of a different color the first paint starts to crack, bubble and peel off. I tried it on different materials, different brands, different colors and it is always the same. I thought maybe the first coats weren't dry but I let them sit for 48 hours and it is still happening. I am trying to research but I have no clue what is happening....

I have been super bad about updating this...

I actually have made a lot of progress. I got a couple layers of different greens on the armor. Not sure yet if I need to do another coat that is a little darker still or if this is where I want to settle before I weather and do all that.

What did you do to prep the abs for paint?

I did a very light sanding, then used a white primer, then started to layer the colors on. I am actually using latex paint for the green because I couldn't find the colors I wanted and trying to mix a large enough quantity so it would all be the same was tough. I made home made thinner for my airbrush and then am just airbrushing it on. I learned that with the glossy paint I am using I need to wait 4-7 days between coats to make sure it is fully cured and doesn't crackle.

ah ok. You probably need to pick up some wax and grease remover to clean the surfaces.

Once I did the primer and waited long enough it has been working fine for me.
