To all cadets and new bulletin board members:

Membership to the 501st can only be applied for when an individual has a qualifying costume completed and has sent 3 high quality digital photos to the Garrison Membership Liaison, at least one full body and one with helmet removed (where applicable).

If applications are made before costumes are complete, the GML will notify the applicant that they have 1 month to forward digital pics of the completed costume or the application will be denied.

This will allow the GML to keep the Legion membership database clean and allow better response time when applications are complete. In a perfect world, this method should get an applicant their TK number in 24 hours.

If you have any questions, please PM me.

Thank you,

Garrison Membership Liaison

I have been falling down on the job much of the last three months. Aquiring a new house as well as other family and work obligations have kept me from fulfilling my duties.

Anyone that is waiting for an application approval or needs help in the process, please PM me and let me know what I can do to help you.

I may already have photos of your costume and need to review it with you, or received your Legion application and never wrote you about how to complete it. Whatever the case, drop me a line and I'll get back to work.

Thanks everyone!

Just a reminder for those cadets that have applied for membership and have not got their costumes pictures in to complete their application. The longer you take to get them done, the TKID numbers you put on your applications are being used.

So lets get those costumes done and pictures in to finish your applications, so if you took the time to make your number special to you, the longer you take they are being taken by someone else.

I will email those who need new numbers.

Thank you,

Garrison Membership Liaison

Jango, Did Erin get my pics to you? They were taken the 23rd of November. I put in my application to the 501st Legion about 2 weeks ago. Hope to hear from you soon about this. Rose Ungerecht

Rose, Jango/Chris is no longer in charge of the membership applications (he was in back in 2005) ; the current Membership Liaison is Darth Sifter/Kirk.

Was I the one who took your membership pictures? I looked in my Newgate Mall folder (matches the date you said I took them) and I don't have any pictures of you in there. There were a couple of photographers there...

I'll keep looking on my hard drive, but I honestly don't have a recollection of taking your pictures :?

Erin, You didn't take them. It was a guy. He took a side view and two from the waist up, one without my cap. When you find them, could you please send them to Kirk. I already filled out an application for the 501st about 2 weeks ago. Get in touch with me soon, please. Rose

I took the photos. I'm almost positive I gave them to Erin, but being as they weren't photos for TFT, they may have been overlooked on the compact flash. I hope they weren't though, as I know I've used the camera since then and the cards have been wiped. I might be able to recover something. I'll see what I can do. Erin, do you mind looking through your pictures as well?

3 flash cards and 4 hours of image recovery software later, I don't have the images. Sorry. I still need to check my other computer, as it was the one I had at that event. If Erin doesn't have them, they should probably just be retaken.

I don't have them Dusty. All of the pictures I had on the CF card that Christy borrowed were dumped to Erin's laptop.

We have been getting a lot of applications over the last few weeks, and I have received many requests for what is needed to submit in order to submit an application, so I thought this would be a good topic to bump.

To all cadets ready to submit an application:

Membership to the 501st can only be applied for when an individual has a qualifying costume completed and has sent 3 high quality digital photos to the Garrison Membership Liaison, at least one full body and one with helmet removed (where applicable).

A basic rule of thumb when taking pictures for your application is to take a High-resolution photo of you in your costume in the following positions; Facing Forward, back, left, and right with your arms straight down to your side, and another set with your arms straight out from your sides (Like a T) for each of those positions. It would also be to your advantage to review the CRL, and make sure that your pictures are detailed enough to show every point required in the CRL.

As an example of this, lets take a look at a Boba or Jango Fett. The CRL requires the rear of the helmet to have "keyhole slots" on the back of the helmet. If you are wearing your jetpack in the photos of your backside, the Keyhole slots may not be visible, and your application will be denied until all parts of the CRL are able to be reviewed and approved by the GML. You would need to submit additional photos before you could be approved, and that would delay entry to the Legion. Additionally, you would want to provide photos of any part of the CRL which would need to have specific details outlined, such as color patterns on small items, numbers of stitches for a hat or sleeve, or even specific weathering patterns.

When taking your photos, please attempt to use as much natural light as possible, as different types of interior lighting can result in applications being denied due to incorrect color tones.

All parts of the costume are being reviewed at level one ONLY. Anything beyond level one will need to be initiated at the detachment level, and it will be their call on how well you qualify for level 2 or 3 costume qualifications. The GML has no input in that regard, unless directly requested by the detachment lead for specific details we may have seen in person.

If applications are made before costumes are complete, the GML will notify the applicant that they have 1 month to forward digital pics of the completed costume or the application will be denied.

I do my best to review all applications that are sent into the legion, but it would be to your advantage if you would send your photos directly to your GML at GML@Alpinegarrison.com.

This will allow the GML to keep the Legion membership database clean and allow better response time when applications are complete. In a perfect world, this method should get an applicant their TK number in 24 hours.

When problems are found with a costume, we will generally send out an email detailing what the problems are, as well as any recommendation we may have in order to fix it. If you believe the GML to be in error in this assessment, please feel free to provide supporting information to your own assessment, and the GML will reevaluate the costume accordingly.

If you have any questions, please PM me.
